The Insistence Here Is That The State, Government, Is Incompetent

This is an interesting little claim to be making. It’s not quite the one the whiners think they are making and they’d be entirely shocked to hear that it is the one they are. But over Brexit, passports, citizenship and all that. Their claim really is that government is simply pants. Not got a clue. Incompetent that is.

So, what they’re insisting is that given Brexit there’ll be a certain reorganisation of who it is that has the right to live and work in the UK. This is obviously true. They go on to point out that not all whose status changes, or who need to register and suffer the bureaucracy in order to show and prove their rights, will in fact do so. This is also obviously true. We’re dealing with humans here after all.

But the people who are going to be worst off, the people who’ll really get pedicared* by the bureaucracy are those already dependent upon the bureaucracy to protect and register these rights. That is, the State will be incompetent at dealing with those it is supposed to be dealing with:

Yes, OK, a real risk here. But now look at who it is that they say are most at risk:

Those among us who will have to deal with it directly and themselves will sigh mightily and get on with it. Those dependent upon the state to protect their rights will get screwed. That’s the statement that is being made.

The amusement comes from the manner in which all too many people insist said State must be doing ever more in our lives. Even while they also whine about how appallingly badly the State does the things it already does.
