Owen Jones Protests Again His Own Saudi Paymasters

There are three possible explanations for this from Owen Jones. He’s advocating a march on Downing Street to protest against the “Saudi Tyrant.” Owen Jones makes his living writing for The Guardian, a newspaper which happily runs advertisements lauding that same “tyrant.” Thus we’ve got those three possible explanations for this:

The proof of the Guardian taking the SaudiGeld is the image above.

And thus our three explanations. Owen Jones is more than a tad hypocritical to take his salary from those he insists are tyrants. Or Owen Jones doesn’t check matters before pontificating upon them. Or, finally, Owen Jones simply doesn’t understand how the world works – money has to go into The Guardian before it can be paid out to him.

Our own estimation is that third, just not understanding the world at all. It’s certainly the best explanation for the rest of his output anyway.

Explanation #4: Owen’s paymasters do not interfere with his own independence and integrity.

Likewise, would all lefties please shut the hell up about the funders of the Taxpayers Alliance, Adam Smith Institute, etc.

Or explanation #5. Like his colleagues at the Guardian, he’d sell his granny’s arse if there were a few quid in it for him. Socialists have VERY flexible principles when it comes to personal enrichment, when they’re the person being enriched.

Not saying I’ve anything against that as an attitude, in principal. I’d sell Owen Jones’ granny’s arse if I saw a profit in it.

I’m with #4. Capitalism is sufficiently modular that a man can work for heathens and tyrants without endorsing their lifestyles and goals, and they can employ him without endorsing or caring about what he does with his paycheck after it’s his. Not so the Community Activist on a zero-tolerance riff.

Of course, Jones with his march on Downing Street turns himself into a Community Activist and so, yes, the most effective march against the Saudis would be a total personal boycott. But maybe “effective” is not his goal.

In fairness he also protests about tax avoidance, and the trust which funds the guardian has all kinds of weird structures to dodge tax. So he is consistent if nothing else.

Actually nothing else sounds about right as a description

It’s because he has no integrity whatsoever. I was surprised to learn that he’s actually 33 – he looks and writes like he’s 13.

All three explanations are correct, and can be summed up in explanation #4: Owen Jones is a tosser

Sorry, didn’t look at previous comments – make “Owen Jones is a tosser” explanation #6.

I always think of Owen Jones as the Private Pike of the Left.

Stupid boy.

He’s a male version of Laurie Penny. I was rather surprised to find she was 30, not 19.
